Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Registered Pharmacist role based at Mind and Brain Hospital in Bengaluru. The Registered Pharmacist will be responsible for accurately dispensing medications, verifying prescriptions, and ensuring compliance with psychiatric treatment protocols and safety standards. Day-to-day activities include reviewing medication orders, checking for drug interactions, counseling patients and caregivers on proper medication use, and maintaining up-to-date patient medication records. The role involves coordinating closely with psychiatrists, nurses, and other clinical staff to support individualized treatment plans, monitor medication effectiveness, and assist with formulary and inventory management. The pharmacist will also help implement medication-related policies, support quality assurance initiatives, and ensure adherence to regulatory and hospital guidelines.
Qualifications
- Valid registration as a Pharmacist with the relevant state pharmacy council and a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D); postgraduate qualification in clinical or psychiatric pharmacy is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, psychotropic medications, drug interactions, dosage calculations, and safe dispensing practices in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Ability to review and interpret prescriptions, maintain accurate medication records, and use hospital information systems or electronic medical records effectively.
- Effective communication and counseling skills for explaining medication regimens, side effects, and adherence strategies to patients, caregivers, and clinical teams.
- Experience working in mental health, neuropsychiatric, or general hospital environments, with familiarity in evidence-based treatment protocols and multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and commitment to medication safety, ethical practice, and regulatory compliance (including local drug laws and hospital policies).
- Ability to work flexible hours as required by hospital operations, and to perform under pressure while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and patient respect.
